Vector 2 (Intro to Computer Graphics)

 Artboard 01
In pencil, draw an animal in a cartoon style using only closed contour lines.
No shading or hatching.
Your animal can be fictional.
Once you are happy with it, trace the closed contour lines with a Sharpie or thick marker.
Make sure there are no gaps.
Take a photo of this drawing in bright light (no shadows if possible).
Place the photo of your drawing on this art board; EMBED the image into your document.
Change the Artboard orientation to fit your artwork (Portrait or Landscape).
Create a Color Palette for your illustration using the Color Themes window, Adobe Color, or Coolors.com.
Place the color palette on Artboard 01, below your drawing.
Artboard 02
Place a copy of your illustration drawing on Artboard 01 and put it on Artboard 02.
Use Image Trace, Image Trace Window and Expand to create a vector graphic of the drawing.
Color it in using Live Paint Bucket.
Artboard 03
Place a copy of your drawing from Artboard 01 onto Artboard 03 to use as a guide. (Optional)
Re-create the illustration using only the Shape Tools (rectangle, ellipse, polygon, star, line) AND the Shape Builder Tool
If you used your original drawing as a guide, make sure to DELETE that layer when finished.
Artboard 04
Place a copy of your drawing from Artboard 01 onto Artboard 04 to use as a guide.
Re-create your drawing using ONLY the Pen Tool.
DELETE the drawing guide layer when finished.
Artboard 05
Re-create the example vector illustration.
Use a combination of all the tools and techniques you’ve learned so far…
Shapes, shape builder, pen tool, strokes, fills, gradients…
*Make sure to remove the original sketch from anywhere it was used it as a guide.
*Save the 5 artboards as an .ai file AND a single .pdf file. Upload both files here.
